Measuring for Polyshoes

Video – How to Measure for Polyshoes >>

  1. Measure each hoof after a fresh trim.
  2. Measure length from the toe to the buttress line (or back of heel platform) in mm—do not include heel bulbs.
  3. Measure width at the widest point in millimetres.
  4. View chart for your choice of shoe. Hopefully both length and width fall within the same size range on a chart. Ideally the width should be in the lower two mm of the size otherwise size up.

For Example: a front hoof measuring 118mm is at the larger end of the 118F size (112-118) so size up to a 122F.

Whereas a front hoof measuring 113mm is at the lower end of the size chart for 118F so your size would be 118F.

The length of the shoe must be longer than the length of the hoof. Always allow for heel support and trim and shape the polyshoes to fit the horses heel.

  1. If in doubt size up, you can always trim a shoe. Never trim the hoof to fit the shoe as you are in danger of pricking a horse.
